As a learning & development professional for over 20 years, I have observed that successful people and companies are continuously learning, challenging themselves and practicing. They look for new and better ways to work, develop their team, and build their business.

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ is the result of the partnership between Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions and best-selling author Patrick Lencioni. Together we have created a team development program with a simple goal—to improve team effectiveness and productivity through the understanding and application of The Five Behaviors™: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results.

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ has a simple goal: To help people discover how to build a truly cohesive and effective team. Based on Patrick Lencioni’s internationally best-selling leadership fable The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, this assessment-based program focuses on putting The Five Behaviors™ model into practice. Additionally, two versions of the program are available: Powered by Everything DiSC® or All Types™ — two distinct personality models — which help participants better understand how individual personalities contribute to team development. Both are equally valuable in helping teams achieve greater effectiveness and productivity.

Solutions

  • Resolving Team Conflict

    ENGAGING IN HEALTHY CONFLICT

Conflict is naturally uncomfortable, but productive conflict focused on concepts and ideas is essential for any great team to grow. When teams have a foundation of vulnerability-based trust, conflict simply becomes an attempt to find the best possible solution in the shortest period of time.

  • What's Making My Team Dysfunctional?

    Dysfunction #1: Absence of Trust
The fear of being vulnerable with team members prevents the building of trust within the team.

    Dysfunction #2: Fear of Conflict
The desire to preserve artificial harmony stifles the occurrence of productive ideological conflict.

    Dysfunction #3: Lack of Commitment
The lack of clarity or buy-in prevents team members from making decisions they will stick to.

    Dysfunction #4: Avoidance of Accountability
The need to avoid interpersonal discomfort prevents team members from holding one another accountable.

    Dysfunction #5: Inattention to Results
The pursuit of individual goals and personal status erodes the focus on collective success.

  • The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Behavioral Styles-Based

The program helps teams understand how they score on the key components of The Five Behaviors model: Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results. Individual team members will learn about their own personality style and the styles of their team members— based on the Everything DiSC® model—and how their style contributes to the team’s overall success.

  • The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Personalities-Based

This program helps improve team effectiveness and productivity in organizations that apply tools
based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types, like the MBTI® instrument, as their preferred
indicator of behaviors and personality. Teams will examine how they score on the key
components of Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results, as well as understand how each team member’s unique personality style brings value to the team’s overall success.
